Despite only having 10 players available, Magpies Under 12 'B' put in a superb battling performance to secure their first away win of the season at Reeves Rangers on Saturday. Magpies recovered well from conceding an early goal, and soon equalised when Andrew Newlyn converted Ryan Moore's low cross from the right. Heartened by the swift response, Magpies soon gained the upper hand, and played some excellent football despite their numerical disadvantage. Their dominance was rewarded when Andrew Newlyn doubled his tally with an emphatic finish after a good move involving Luke Scarborough and Gugan Chana, and the Maidenhead boys increased their lead when defender Harry Rebbeck scored his first goal for the club with a sweetly struck right footed shot after the Reeves defence failed to clear Andrew Newlyn's free kick. Reeves reduced the arrears with a goal just before half time, and the teams turned around with Magpies holding a slender 3-2 lead. Reeves enjoyed more possession as the Maidenhead boys tired in the warm sunshine during the second half, but confident Magpies' Keeper Monty Ozanne and his excellent back four were determined that they would not concede again, and instead it was Magpies who increased their lead when Andrew Newlyn completed his hat trick from close range after a mazy run by Beni Grossman dazzled the Reeves defence. Overall a terrific performance in which all of the lads who played did themselves proud - as well as being the first away win it was also the first time the boys have come from behind to win a match this season, and hopefully on the back of this they can end a difficult season with a flourish!
