Despite mounting a terrific second half fightback, Magpies Under 12 'B' lost out to high flying Laurel Park Tornadoes by the odd goal in three on Saturday. Magpies were under pressure for much of a first half in which they conceded two goals, although had it not been for some outstanding work by 'Keeper Gugan Chana and defenders Ryan Moore, Matthew Bull and Harry Rebbeck the half time score could have been much worse. However, the Maidenhead boys staged a spirited comeback after the break, and pulled a goal back when Oliver Murphy ran on to Luke Scarborough's pass and calmly rounded the Tornadoes 'Keeper before stroking the ball into the empty net. Boosted by the goal Magpies continued to press forward, with Jag Shergill's pace always a threat to the Laurel Park defence, and while an equaliser ultimately proved elusive the Magpies' second half performance against a very good Laurel Park side proved yet again that the boys are more than capable of competing against any of the teams in their division - they just need to believe in themselves a little bit more!
