Magpies went into this game after a week off due to half term but this didn't show with the pace of the game that they dictated early in proceedings.
The midfield were solid and the forwards were a menace and it was not long before Maggies took the lead. Will found himself out on the left wing and got a shot off that was blocked but Will stay composed and lobbed the keeper with an excellent outside of the boot lob.
This seemed to make the boys ease of the gas somewhat and let Warfield back into the game. Scott Woolford made an excellent save from a well taken freekick but Warfield were first to react and buried the ball to equalise.
Maggies woke up again and came back at Warfiled befor halftime bagging a 3-1 lead. The second Maggies goal came from a great through ball from Hirst through to Wheddon who slammed the ball home. Then from a corner later on in the half Wheddon scored an excellent volley from a finely delivered corner from Blackwell.
At half time we discussed that the game was not won and there was still lots of work to do but Warfield clawed the game back to level peggings. This came even after Maggies created chance after chance through some great deliveries from Blackwell, excellent work from Dover and a dominant midfield display from Adams.
The game could have been decided with the last kick of the game as Warfield were given a penalty in the last minute but a poor penalty and a good save from Woolford ensured that the game went ot extra time.
Maggies woke up again in extra time and in the second period finally got the goals they deserved. The first coming as a result of a superb shot from Hirst which rebounded off the crossbar and was pounced upon by Blackwell who headed home.
Hirst and Blackwell were at it again minutes later when Hirst slotted a ball through to Blackwell who finished excellently to secure the win.
Hirst was geting twitchy about his goal per game ratio but he pulled down a Woolford goal kick perfectly, beat a player and slotted in at the back post to maintain his record.
Maggies were excellent in patches but if they continue to leak goals they will continue to make games hard to win.
Man of the match was Tommy Adams who dominated the midfield but special mention also goes to Blackwell, Mason, Sawle and Combes who were all excellent.
