Following on from the dramatic scoreline last week, Ascot were the opposition and magpies travelled there with key players missing. The continued loss of James Sawle, Will absent, Harry out and Hirsty unavailable. That said, Maggies are more than capable at competing in this league with those that were present.

Maggies started the better of the two teams with Mulley and Adams snapping at the heels in the middle of the park and driving the boys forward. There was some great link up play with Jimmy and Blackwell and Titch on the left was causing chaos in the Ascot backline. It was Titch that caused the first talking point of the match with a stinging half volley from 20 yards which was pushed superbly on to the crossbar by the Ascot keeper. Chances continued to come but Maidenhead finally broke the deadlock. Adams won the ball superbly in the middle of the park and set Mellor free down the left. He cut in, steadied himself and finsihed superbly in to the far corner.

Half time came with Maggies continuing to be on top although Ascot had started to apply some pressure late on.

Unfortunately Maggies fell asleep again and had conceded 2 goals out of nothing within 10 minutes. One a well placed header from a good freekick and the other a soft goal from some poor defending. This caused Maidenhead's heads to drop and 2 was 4 in the blink of an eye as there was complete shut down in the Maggies defence.

Maggies were able to get one back after Mellor beat the offside trap and crossed for Titch to tap home at the far post and this did start a slight revival but it was not enough.

Lewis Mason was great again, Tommy Adams gave a typically gutsy display as usual and Titch was superb on the left but MoM went to Jordan who put in some massive tackles and also brought the ball forward confidently.

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
